Lower Saxony is situated on the north German plain bordered to the
west by the Netherlands and to the north by the North Sea. The states
natural variety offers mountainous regions to the south, heaths and
moors in the center and well developed cities such as the states
capital Hanover. The country side is speckled with farms, rivers and
thousands of fruit trees. Lower Saxony is a leading producer of oil in
